FINALLY Got Moved In! :)

#1 Postby Skywatch_NC » Sun Jun 27, 2004 10:22 am

Well, the garage and first floor are crammed w/ boxes galore and other assorted items and...BUT....FINALLY the folks and I have now moved into our new townhouse as of this past Friday!! :D :D

The moving crew surprised us though...we had requested a top quality experienced ...but a team of 4 very young guys (late teens/early 20s or so)...2 have worked for this particular moving company (All My Sons) for a while now...including the crew boss on this particular run...whom BTW didn't seem to be able speak English very well...and 2 other guys (one was heavy-set around 300 lbs. or so...shouldn't have even been a part of the crew as he has a history of migraine headaches and he kept getting charley-horses in his legs!)...(other guy didn't even know how to carry a piece of furniture the correct way...we have 2 sets of steep stairways, doors were made too narrow, too)...these latter 2 guys mentioned...well it was their first day on the job w/ All My Sons...LOL!

So much for requesting to a gentleman rep from AMS to get us a top quality EXPERIENCED crew!!

Otherwise the move went okay! :)

BTW...a Time Warner guy will be coming out to the townhouse to hook up our TV and computer on Tuesday 6/29! :D For right now I'm still using the computer here at the apt.--will transfer it by tomorrow to the townhouse. :)
TV service, too, here until tomorrow or Tuesday. :)

Oh and also some of our belongings were either smashed up a bit, scratched, etc., during the storage w/ All My Sons...so for those contemplating a move in NC...by all means...don't use this particular moving company! ~SIGH~

Eric

PS: My Dad has compiled some notes and into a letter to the management of All My Sons of our grievances. :x :P

Gotta expect a few dents and scratches. We too found out that "experienced" meant that they knew how to ask for our check.

We have been here 7 years and still have 4 boxes unpacked...must be real important stuff in there!!!

Take your time and enjoy the journey.

On our move to Orlando, FL; we lost a china hutch, among other things. (Glass fell out im a million pieces, which turned into a billion once it hit the ground.) The moving company was also rumored to have dropped a CAR (yes a CAR) off the ramp upon attempting to get it into the moving truck.

NEVER USE PAUL ARPIN MOVING!!!

Thank you very much for the well-wishes, Ed, John, Linda, Steve, Joshua, Stephanie and Jen! :D

Ed, there's probably a few U-Haul boxes that we could give you, Wxbuddy. :)
Hmmm...now where is that particular size amid our 'sea' of corrugated cardboard...lol.

Steve, one of the items that the company failed to pack properly in storage back in late March for Part 1 of the move (gotta love those 2 part moves lol)
was an expensive paper shredder (that got partially crushed under the extreme weight of other items). My Dad is going to report All My Sons to the Better Business Bureau, too.

Joshua, very sorry to hear about that china hutch! :( Man alive, if a moving company can't even handle a car...one must think what they ARE competent of being able to manage with! :x
