UPDATE: Today is Job Hunt Part 2: :)

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Tue Jun 29, 2004 10:00 am

and believe it or not.. I have already started.. lol..

I am currently home on a short break after I just rode my bike to about 6-7 of the places I applied too on Friday.

The results were less than stellar.. :(

K Mart is not hiring.. WaldenBooks is between managers.. Pet Supermarket didn't even have their hiring manager on duty.. BUT they did give me a business card and said feel free to call back when the hiring manager is in..

JoAnne's and Ritz Express now both have MY number so I guess the ball is in their court. I gave them both my number.. since the managers weren't in.

I also went and picked up my letter from the church regarding me getting help from Community Action tomorrow. It simply says "John is 1 of our great church members.. He can't pay his rent because his mother has been moved into a nursing home.. please help him as much as you can and so will we.. sincerley.. pastor tim"

I am leaving for the neighboring city of St. Cloud in about an hour.. wish me luck. There aren't as many oppurtunities in St. Cloud as their are in Kissimmee.

I'll be honest and also say I am getting a tad bit discouraged here lol.. I know there are several places I haven't gone too that I probably should try. But it gets a little annoying lol..

I also forgot to mention that I also went to Office Max. They need front end people and a electronics associate. I have applied their numerous times.. even had an interview with the manager about 2 years ago.. but was never hired. Maybe this time she'll change her mind.

Hang in there!! I spent months and months searching for a job, and had NO luck. I got so frustrated I swear I couldn't see straight. Just as I was about to give up, though, a really great job I had applied to 2 months earlier called me in for an interview, and they gave me the position!

The moral of the story is......

Don't give up. Right now there are a lot of unemployed people and its DEFINITELY an employers market, so they are taking their sweet time calling people back. All you can do is keep trying....sooner or later you will hear from someone.

Have you posted your resume on job sites on the internet, like monster.com and your local newspapers website (I dont know where you live, but the Houston Chronicle lets people post resumes)? Sometimes that can be a good way to find people who are hiring, and let them find you.

Good luck!!!!!!
