The Atlantic on an average season is around 9.3 named storms so it is well below the average of the WPAC which is the most active basin in the world. The EPAC has an average of 16 named storms in a season making it the second most active basin.Thankfully all of us who live in the Atlantic basin coasts and islands dont see very active seasons like the WPAC has and also the cape verde season is a short one from august 15 to september 30th.

Wait, Unisys says it got to Super Typhoon strength. It got to 125 knots, or 145 M.P.H. Is that super strength?

125 knots/145 mph is borderline of a Super Typhoon but not enough to categorize a system in such category. According to the rules, a Super Typhoon is a tropical cyclones formed in the Western Pacific which reaches or surpases 130 knots/150 mph. Typhoon Mindulle never reached that category according to the JTWC.

When I said "as active" I meant compared to average, I doubt anyone's expecting it to be as active as the WPAC. Sorry for the misunderstanding!
