I think praying for a job, with but few exceptions, is a misuse of the sanctity of petetioning to your God or higher power. I do not believe in praying for "things". I can see seeking divine assistence for outcomes such as someone's health or safe travel, but to pray for in essence a material result from the supreme spiritual being is, I believe, a misue of that/His great power.

I basically agree. In these types of situtations my prayers are that God's will be done in the situation that is being prayed about. Praying for something good to happen for another is not wrong imo. If that something good happens to be a material result I don't feel that in and of itself is wrong or makes it bad. If I prayed to win the lottery every night as opposed to praying for God's grace and peace and guidance for my friends and family then it would be wrong imo.
