The good Lord willing, Poppysky and the Mrs. will be spending time at "Emmafest" in San Diego. We're hoping He will bless us with safe passage across the desert, the green Imperial Valley, and the rock-laden mountains of southwest California on Thursday and again on Monday.

On Friday, we have the good fortune of joining a publisher friend of mine and his wife at the traveling Broadway musical "Movin Out!" featuring 24 songs of Billy Joel. The show is at the San Diego Civic Theater. Our friend's daughter, Holly, is the lead http://www.hollycruikshank.com that night. Should be great seeing her perform, will be just as fun seeing her dad (who has Parkinson's disease) beam, and be a tough job keeping Kathy from dancin' in the aisles to Billy's music!

Saturday, we get to join Emma and her family at their block party where we can watch her play games with her neighborhood friends, and on Sunday, it will be fireworks at the La Jolla cove along the Pacific Ocean.

In between, I hope to get plenty of Emma hugs and Emma smiles at "Emmafest." (Don't be surprised if in about two weeks Emma posts a thread about her new baby brother or sister who will arrive right around Thanksgiving.)

Two more things going on. Kathy will make her first white-glove visit to our youngest son's apartment (across the street from Qualcomm Stadium) on Thursday night. He's flying to Seattle on Friday to be with his new honey for the 4th, so he really won't care if he fails the test. She'll still write out a full report for when he returns!

Finally, as they play Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A." during the fireworks, I will indeed be thankful for being an American, being alive, AND, in that moment, I will give thanks as well for my friends here at Storm2k.

Count on it.

Another "ultra-spoiled" grandchild on the way for Poppysky... :D

We will be manning a GOP tent at a local Knights of Columbus cookout from 11 am-1 pm...then to St. Paul's Episcopal for a BBQ with "bring your sides" at 5-6, followed by a view of the town fireworks from the lawn of one of our vestry members about 8:30 pm.
