I won't be able to watch this movie in quite the same way again now. Hope they throw the book at this guy.

Sick, sick, sick is right Linda. Feel so sorry for the 14 year old boy. The mother in me comes out when I read stories like this! If this sicko does time, he'll get his I'm sure.

I agree Mary! It is so hard these days to protect our children from the bad in the world especially with these sick human beings walking the streets.

They come in all stripes...they look "normal", work as teachers, youth counselors, day-care employees, administrators, coaches, actors/actresses, et al..

They can be men or women, young or old, etc.; but they are FEW in numbers, and that is what the media doesn't ever mention (they don't want to ruffle the feathers in Hollywood, I guess...) :grrr:

I remember when the news first came out last year about his crime.

Counseling??? They sentenced him to counseling? He needs more than counseling. Like Mary said, he needs the book thrown at him! Worst part is I think he's gay also. Of course, not that his being gay is the problem. But his crappy actions makes the rest of us look like a bunch of sorry, promiscuous, ill-minded, uninhibited pervs, like Paul Reubens (Pee Wee) and George Michael. What he is, for the most part, is immature and immoral. He can't have a relationship with a normal, well-adjusted adult and probably gets his jollies looking at stuff (both behaviors are typical of most child molestors - gay or straight, predators of male or female victims). He probably strives to find resolution for some relationship that he had as a teenager (which he shouldn't have had anyway because that's too freaking young!). So he finds himself attracted to teens who were his age when the breakup of the relationship or whatever traumatic event it was happened. He's stuck in that time in his life and feels he still deserves to have relationships with and is attracted to people who are the same as his "emotional" age.

Regardless of whether he's gay or straight or his victim is male or female, or if the perp was a woman instead of a man, it would take a heck of a lot of counseling (including spiritual) for an individual to understand where this behavior is coming from, how to cope with it, and how to get past it. Experiencing strong sexual urges as a youth and not being emotionally mature enough to handle those urges can mold the way a person behaves (or I guess I should say, misbehaves) as an adult. He's got a lot of growing up to do and, unfortunately, some people never do.

God only knows how this will scar his victim (victims?) also. I pray for him and his family so that he won't be tarnished by this jerk's behavior.

I think I watch too much Law & Order: SVU. :)

I hit a nerve didn't I Shawn! Sorry about that. Like you said and I believe, he needs more than counseling. Locally we have a foster family that takes in teens that are abused (not that this teen is parentless) but it reminds me of that caring family (they have bio children of their own). They sit each child down when they arrive, assuring them that they have privacy in their home and no one will touch them 'there'. I cried reading that article. The foster mom says it takes a lot of time before children trust them, but in time they realize what's normal and what's not. They've even adopted as many as they can, legally. Some still have parental rights. But they try.

Wow, I got off on a tangent too!

Bill, I realize they come in all walks of life too. What really worries me is when they take on jobs that puts them in direct contact with kids (teachers, daycare workers, coaching, etc.). Sad but it's a reality at the same time. I think caring adults as we all are, need to report anything alarming.

Brent - I noticed it was airing today, after I posted this topic! How ironic. My kids want this movie on DVD sometime. It is a classic.
