Russia denies military sales to Iraq

#1 Postby bfez1 » Mon Mar 24, 2003 2:27 pm

March 24 — Russia denied charges from the White House on Monday that Russian companies are selling military equipment to Iraq, including night vision boggles, anti-tank weapons and jamming equipment to use against U.S. planes and bombs.

This is hogwash. But until we can get concrete proof - we can't point fingers.

I'm sure that the White House wouldn't have leveled the charges if they didn't have some evidence. Otherwise it would have come from an anonymous source.

Press secreatry Ari fleisher said when asked if they were going by news reports... to come to this conclusion "The President doesn't rely on rumors or foreign newspaper reports" He relies on intelligence"

Russia has always had a "relationship" with the Iraqi's - particularly with their oil. It's possible that the Iraqi missles and bombs were made from material that came from Russia via another country.

I certainly do hope that there is evidence prior to accusing another country of helping out Iraq. We've been doing a very good job so far of alienating allies and at this point, it doesn't seem that Russia may even want to "look into the matter". If Russia has, then what are we going to do, invade them as well???

Is this the same intelligence that George Bush used to state that Iraq still has and was making WMD's???

Well, ladies and gents....those red, "ruby-lens" optics come from nowhere else on earth but Russia; they spirited the optics technology from WW II Gremany, and have made a few improvements (note OUR Gen III night-vision is a distinctive green...then compare the segmented pics of Baghdad at night. The red night-vision stills are from Russian sources).

Then there are the RPGs...nice, tan-yellow painted, with Cyrillic/Arabic markings. And WHO uses Cyrillic writing?

Last, those wonderful GPS-blocking boxes...we have SEEN them, we know where they came from (I saw them shown on FoxNews during the initial UN inspections)...these are a combination of (East) German and Russian advances.

Most of us HAVE seen these things on our tubes....how can "Matrushka Rossye" (Mother Russia) dare deny they exist? :o

Stephanie just because they haven't found them yet doesn't mean they aren't there..The wmd's I mean and if Russia is supplying Iraq with weapons then we need to know. Not for an invasion but so we know who are friends are. :o BTW the scuds saddam didn't have anymore are in bits and pieces all over the desert thanks to our patriot missile batteries

You're right Rainband, but I'm getting alittle impatient.

me too, I can relate.... It's kind of a double edged sword. I want them to find the WMD'S so we don't look like we are wrong. I also don't want them used on our forces      So believe me I am on your page...

Steph, I just outlined what they have supplied, where it came from, and how to tell the origins...what do you need, a Russian Spetsnaz Colonel sitting next to Tariq Aziz before you get the picture???
