Hurricane Norbert, 1984

#1 Postby HURAKAN » Mon Jun 28, 2004 6:04 pm

I like to search about hurricanes, typhoons, and tropical cyclones throughout history. One of my hobbies is to sit down and read in the NHC/TPC Archive of Past Hurricane Seasons the summaries of tropical systems. In Unisys I found just the track of this hurricane and immediately it shocked me by its beautifully ejecuted track; something similar, I have never seen it. Norbert reached Category 4 with winds around 135 mph.

My only comment is that's the worst name for a hurricane I've ever heard  It should be retired/banned :darrow:

Well, Isidore was replaced by "IKE". which looks more suitable for a Hawaiian hurricane than for a tropical system in the Atlantic.

This is why we are all here

Just look at the track of all the hurricanes posted here.
Absolutely facinating!!
The thrill of watching things like this and seeing what they can do -
That's why we are all here I think.

I see someone posted something about Hurricane Ginny. The most interesting thing about that one is that it dumped as much as 13 inches of snow in some locations.

Don't forget some of the long-lived ones:

Although someone already posted Ginger, I think...

I thought Norbert looked a bit like a snake.

Way to represent the year I was born, Norb.
