Yep ... look out from GA to the Carolinas tomorrow, as temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-90's in the ATL area to the mid-90's to near 100º tomorrow in South Carolina ... Columbia, SC will approach 100º tomorrow, although, humidity values are a wild card dependant on the resultant flow ... a more westerly or northwesterly component will drive DP's into the mid/upper 60's vs. low 70's tomorrow.
Charleston, SC hit 95º today, and will likely be in the upper 90's to near 100º tomorrow .. the hottest temperatures in 2 years ... heat indices are expected to be near 110º. SWS does indicate that a heat advisory is in effect for the area...
Also, with the higher heat, thunderstorms are more isolated with more insolation and a drier overall atmosphere than in past weeks. But take note, the thunderstorms that do break the cap and get going will be quite strong to possibly severe as evidenced by today's storms in the Upstate of South Carolina through Columbia ... with many reports of wind damage in the NW flow across that area... the storms will also be excessive lightning producers due to the higher SFC heating.
Hottest day coming up July 6 for GA/SC in a couple of years.

A spot check of temperatures across GA and South Carolina placed most of GA south of a line from ATL through south of the Upstate of South Carolina in the mid/upper 90's ... 96º today in CHS, with 98º at my location in Ladson ... TD's ran a tad lower (mid-60's to around 70º) with a delayed seabreeze (mainly N or NW winds across SC, W winds across GA)...
Some very strong thunderstorms have broke out in NW GA this afternoon, including one in Northern Fulton County (ATL) producing severe weather (as indicated by doppler). Some 20 miles away from that cell, the outflow boundary produced a 25-30 mph wind gust along the flank.
Another hot one tomorrow, but moisture is beginning to return, and may hold the temperatures down a few degrees... the tradeoff, higher humidity, and will probably feel just the same or even worse.

Weather stays hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Mike, How is vacation going? I am sure that you know the hot weather continues with the ridge even building more. How hot did Atlanta end up getting? Summerville was 100 degrees today. Our lows at night here get down into the upper 60s in some outlying areas here in Berea. How about Hurricane predictions. Do you have any prognosis on this at this time? My belief is that it is going to be an active hurricane season with more stronger storms. All this heat over the ocean has got to be released somewhere, you know exactly what I mean There has been a lot of thunderstorm activity over central and southern Florida. We all know with the right conditions thunderstorm clusters can turn into tropical activity. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow looks like ANOTHER warm day for you, Jeff.
850H temps of +18 or 19 DEG C would suggest highs of 91-94F w/ deep layer ridge centered over FL and westerly flow/downsloping E of the Mountains it could get even HOTTER than that.
Dewpoints of only 60-65F over the Upstate during the Afternoon should keep a lid on the heat index

We are definitely getting a typical summer pattern now after all the storms that moved through. The storm in Northern Fulton had quite a bit of wind and lightning with it! It has been pretty hot with temps getting into the lower 90's here this week. I think this summer will top the last two for temps all over the SE.

I haven't had a chance to get online for 3 days ...
Here goes ... Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday have been pretty hot, but NOTHING like SC (Charleston, Columbia, etc.) ... temperatures here have been ranging from the upper 80's to low 90's. Wednesday night, we got a wicked and awesome aerial lightning display (no cloud/ground lightning here).
As for the Tropical Season, it's (the prognostic discussion) is on my website and the numbers are on my signature (13/8/3). Oh, here's the link to the discussion ...

Thursday at Six Flags, it was hot, hot, hot in that sun all day ... water rides and water shows were the order of the day ... and I am FRIED red (face, arms, shoulders, etc.) ... stayed out there all day. Today, we hit the Gwinnett County Parks/Recreation .. but thunderstorms interrupted and shut down the outside portion of the water activities ... fortunately, there are indoor pools as well ...
And severe thunderstorms struck in my location yesterday ... extremely dangerous CG lightning (heard the loud crashing of thunder through a phone call on a cell phone), along with hail (In Oakbrook ½" hail), wind damage, including some very close to my location, and torrential downpours ... 2.00" fell in Fairlawn in a very short period of time, and that's just across the street from my location.
Very rough yesterday, and Ashley Phosphate/I-26 got 3/4" hail today with severe thunderstorms (according to the Storm Reports)...

Been awhile that there's this much action in the area, but it generally does occur when one weather fanatic isn't there ...
