Dukakis once led in the polls. It doesn't mean squat.

Bush had a monster lead on Gore just before the election. Polls at this time are not meaningful.

The lead is only going to grow for the rest of this month up til the convention. The key will be how big of a bounce does Bush get off his Convention and will it be a sizable lead or back to a dead heat like it's been for months?

Right... the next few weeks are the Dems chance to shine, but in late August the Repubs will have their chance to show their stuff. IMHO the Repubs have much better prime time speakers lined up and their bounce will be bigger than the Dems.

I expect it to be neck and neck going into November.

Hey Brent did you read that memo about Bush-Cheney expecting to be down by atleast 15 percentage points coming out of the convention. We this is it. Kerry is getting a short rapid bounce in front but by Late August it will be back to a dead heat.

I don't think Bush & Co. will get much help at the convention even with their line up of speakers. Latest numbers of expected protesters is around 250,000. There will be a lot of coverage of this especially if it turns violent. Bloomberg is trying to keep them out of Central Park. Look back in the history books to Chicago 1968 and gain insight of what may happen in 2004.

The 15 pt "prediction" was merely a CYA IMO. So when, Kerry has a 10 pt lead, the GOP can say, no big deal, not as bad as we had predicted.
