You can't completely ignore the models, of course -- especially when they show a potentially nasty looking blob of weather coming your way in several days (as the GFS does here for us South Floridians). But to me, this wave looks a lot like one we saw last year, if memory serves me right. It was very well defined when it moved off Africa, had a decent amount of convection, etc. Then, it started weakening as it encountered dry air and within 36 hours, it lost its strong satellite signature and just completely faded away. Unless some real convection spins up with this one, I imagine it will suffer the same fate. But I guess time will tell! Thanks for the links.
