The year of the Nonsoons?

#1 Postby azsnowman » Thu Jul 08, 2004 2:43 pm

WELL....they keep forecasting afternoon showers and thunderstorms and I have YET to see a single CLOUD in the sky.....is this gonna be the "Year of the Nonsoons?" God let's HOPE NOT  One way or another, Az is gonna *dry up and blow away* ~or~ *burn to the ground*....either way, it's SAD

Well, first off, the monsoon has never failed to arrive-it has been quite pathetic at times (and this could be one of them) but the actual pattern shift that is the monsoon has always arrived-the thunderstorms are just incidental to it and the strength of the monsoon and the pattern it assumes dictates that-the thunderstorms are not monsoons-just thunderstorms. Secondly, we had showers yesterday and have a boomer to the north today so there is some activity though it's not monsoonal in origin yet.

The drought in AZ is causing quite a fire danger. I spoke with a woman who works with my company out there, and she said that power outages are possible from all the fires. I didn't know how bad it was until I heard it first hand! Stay safe guys!!

WELL.....actually, I'll settle for some decent rains at the moment "LOL!" However, it won't be long till the snow flys again!
