Give us some rain in sfla!

#1 Postby Derek Ortt » Fri Jul 09, 2004 5:17 pm

OK, enough is enough with this drought we are having in sfla. After all, this is the rainy season! I shudder to think what is going to happen if we do not get drought relief soon (and I dont mean in the form of an Andrew, as that didnt even drop any significant rain in Miami, thanks to our friend the SAL)

A slow-moving tropical storm will be welcome with open hands here in South Florida. No Rain, but 3 Wildfires burning here in Miami-Dade, on Wednesday's afternoon the air was unbreathable.

I guess your not getting the sea breeze boundary crossing back over the coast. Well, I think 95L may help give you relief, if it comes far enough north. Still a good circulation out there; UL winds should improve in a day or two. Hope it comes soon (the rains)

All I can say by now is "this summer stinks for the SE" and if we don't get a slow moving large -sized hurricane soon, we might as well kiss this lousy summer good bye for any action. I really do hope that this lousy pattern gets outa here ! We need a huge change - even the lousy tropics have calmed down again ???? Give me a rotton break ! I can't believe this KRAP :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

Looks like Florida is not the only state with water problems!

The problem is the SE has been under the influence of a large upper-level ridge anchored over the Eastern GOM - the last thing we need in July. The high extends to such high altitude that significant convection/heavy rainfall is prevented. There were times the high weakened to allow some scattered thundershowers to increase, only to be followed by a return of the intensification of that ridge.............

Derek: Seems like we are getting all your rain, and I would be happy to let you have some. My yard is slop, and one of my horses has a rain related fungal disease called "rain-rot". Grim sends all the rain to SOUTH Florida for you!!!

Pretty nasty wildfires going on down there. And every year they seem to get closer and closer to the urban areas.

You can have it D.O. We're supposed to catch a break here tomorrow and Sunday with temps in the mid 90's. But I'll believe that when I see it. Except for a week and a half span and maybe 3 odd days, it's rained every day for the last 60. Be glad you guys aren't in Nevada. They keep talking about the driest weather in 500 years. Yuk.

Rainy season? What rainy season? Two words describe our weather........HOT AND DRY. No rain, no storms, no clouds, nada, zilch, zippo. Well, old mother nature has a way of evening things out, one way or the other. We've had similar dry spells. I wonder if any of you folks have done research on dry periods and tropical systems. It would be interesting.

If you south floridans, want the rain, then come to southeast Louisiana. It has been raining almost every single day this summer!
