Gas prices going BACK UP!?

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Fri Jul 09, 2004 7:03 pm

I don't know about where you live.. But I have noticed several gas stations prices have risen again after they tanked at their lows about 7-10 days ago here..

Here's a look at some notable stats:

7-10 days ago the average price for a gallon of regular was around $1.77
Today.. it is up around $1.85!

Ours never went below $1.85 here. Oil hit $40bbl yesterday so it will reflect at the pump next month.

We're still at $1.79 for the 87% octane....which REALLY surprised me, with the 4th of July and all, I expected these GREEDY ASP station owners to JACK up the prices for tourists, they DIDN'T???

This is my opinion about when prices stay the same for too long.. They are probably about to take another dramatic rise..

A couple weeks ago our prices were frozen for about 2-3 weeks.. and then 1 morning.. I saw most stations had as much as a 10-12 cent increase..

1 station here was even spotted selling premium for about $2.30!

Our gas has gone up too. When I filled up on Monday it was $1.65 for the cheapest stuff. This afternoon it has jumped to $1.74.

I only paid a 1.55 a couple days ago at the pump. Thank you Giant Eagle for getting rewards when you use your card on purchases. We had 20 cents off any grade of gas because we used our Advantage card. We just have to remember to take our card when we go shopping and we can continue to get savings for gas. After 50 dollars in groceries, you get 10 cents off your next purchase, and they keep adding up.

I stopped yesterday and paid $1.98 a gallon - down from $2.05 a few weeks ago.

Makes we wonder how prices can fluctuate so much from area to area. Port Canaveral, home to large gas terminals, isn't that far from me. Maybe I'm missing something but I would think the closer you are to the source, the cheaper the price would be with transportation costs and all.
