Scary stuff! What do you think about women being on the front lines when they could be raped and such by certain anti-woman nations. Oh well personally i think that there are certain risks that they make when they go, and a woman has just as much right fighting for our freedom as men do.

Her name is Shoshana Johnson, and Johnson is the daughter of a retired military man and grew up at Fort Bliss. Her sister, Nicki, is an Army captain, and Johnson decided to enlist in 1998. Johnson's relatives said on NBC's "Today" show that she is an Army chef who loves to cook. Her 2-year-old daughter, Janelle, is with Shoshana's mother at Fort Bliss.

If they are "ready, willing and able" when they signup for the military, then they should be on the front line. That's what they are trained for.

I agree. i wanted to hear the other sides story though. Why do some not want women on the front lines?

Sorry, I answered from work and just didn't have time to explain. I have to admit that I am old fashioned and proud of it. While I served proudly with many outstanding women, I don't like the idea of them in direct combat units. It has nothing to do with their abilities or right to defend their country. I was just raised and believe that a man defends a woman.

Maybe I should have been born a few hundred years ago but I kind of like it that way

Just as a quick follow-up...I still open doors for women, light their cigarettes, and say yes maam.

Glad to see that you answered the response. I respectfully disagree, but we are all entitled to our own opinions. If the woman wants to be there... let her be, IF she is trained well.

Good for you MF. My son and husband take there caps off when speaking to a woman, and they both stand when a lady enters the room (love old fashioned manners...my poor son he is only 4)

I do feel if a woman signs up she knows and is trained for a situation. However I have heard on the news this lady was a cook. Would she have the same survival training as a fighting unit?

Glad to see there are some old-fashioned people still around!!! I voted no. I am a woman: I am strong, I am brave, but I am not- and NEVER could be- a person capable of ending life! It's not for me, and I believe a lot of women feel that way! If other women are capable of being on the front line, more power to them, but I choose not to be one of those women!

When I was in the service most people only got basic training in what was expected of a US military person if captured. The air crews got much more intensive training including a week at survival school. For the Air Force this included a trip to a POW Camp where they tried to make it as real as possible. The maintenance people that were captured will have to rely mainly on their pride, determination and faith in God and country! That's a pretty strong combination! :lol:

I voted yes. Woman have the right to be in the front lines if they wish to be. I however have to agree with you Jacki. I could not take a life (unless it was self defence) I dont think i could take seeing other lives taken either. Good bad or ugly. I dont think I could handle it. And I like you have skin like a Rhino and I consider myself a strong person.

Mf - you are a gentlemen - your parents raised you right - I know I still get the door held open in public by men - mostly its the older generation - I always make sure I say Thank you and say have a good day. Too few of the younger generation extend this courtesy.

As far as women on the front line - I voted yes - wish there was a maybe option - I think it depends on the situation - as for the woman who is a POW now - I don't think she is a combat solider. If women train and are capable according to military standards to do this - I say they have the right to defend their country just as the next man does.

A RESOUNDING NO!!! I wouldn't want my wife, mother, my sister, or my daughter in harm's way and that's all there is to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now my Ex Wife...that's a different story

One more thought.....whereas a man will get beat, a woman will get raped repeatedly. Would you want that for your mother????

J... I understand your point, but if they WANT to do it, have the training, etc., why should we keep them from doing it?
