Something to watch for the GOM according to the prelim HPC Forecast Disc.



A WEAK UPR HI SHUD MIGRATE NWD THRU THE TIER 1
REGION FROM N CNTRL MEX AND BE SHIFTED WWD AS AN H2 LOW...XPCTD
TO SPLINTER OFF THE ERN TROF BY DAY 5/TUES...CARRIES WWD THRU THE
GOMEX INTO TX/ERN MEX BY THE END OF THE PD.

Remember, guys, an H2 low is an upper level low located at the 200mb level (we're talking approx. 30,000 ft ABV sea level) ...

Exactly. The GFS says that the upper trough over the EUS on D5 splits and leaves a piece behind.

there also appear to be a TUTT low center West of CUBA at 144hrs. Notice there is little reflection of the system at/below 500H

Yep, an H2 low has nothing in particular to do with tropical development in the GOM...

I keep hoping the frenzy to imagine something out of nothing in the GOM will stop happening but year after the year it's the same.
