Steve wrote:I voted "not". There's a little wishcaster in all of us and I certainly wouldn't lie and say I didn't try to identify any possibility that a given storm might have a shot at getting to me. However, when it comes to discussion on HC, FLHC and S2K, I go the other route. I sometimes find myself downplaying any threats to my area so as not to be accused of -removed- (and probably because I don't want to jinx those threats either). We all know the posters who crawl out from under their rocks during an active storm to tell everyone that a sat shows the storm is now moving their way, how such-and-such a setup means the storm is headed toward their general area, etc. Not to be critical, but this phenominon seems most prominent among Florida posters (particularly Tampa and Miami) I encounter on the net.
For instance, I paid a little extra attention to Bill '03, Lili & Isidore '02 because of the obvious threats to Louisana. But there were any number of ways all three of those storms were heading anywhere between the Keys up to Pensacola Beach come hell or high-water. And what's really funny is when people I disagree with get belligerant about it. LMAO

Then one will be filled with professional opinion because it was started by someone either insightful or professional themselves. people I disagree with avoid this type of thread because it is above them, and forecasters avoid the people I disagree with because they give them headaches.
Some things I've noticed in my watching time:
(1.) Personification of storms.
(2.) Grabbing for straws.
(3.) Data comes in batches, but between the batches people I disagree with need something to preoccupy their interest, so they turn to other people I disagree with.
All of the above leads to distortion and meteorological astrology.

It would be more logical if the majority here were people I disagree with. Don't we like to experience weather
being a weather enthusiasts; I assume that most of us who access this site on a daily basis are
interested in the subject at least somewhat.
