The Sign

#1 Postby Stormsfury » Wed Mar 26, 2003 11:42 am

The Sign

I received the attached, along with the following explanation, from a "highly placed authority." Yes, this was actually on display on I-43 a couple weeks ago. It was placed near the scene of the 60 car accident in Sheboygan County when they were repairing the area of highway. This picture shows the "censored" version. Prior to the State Trooper arriving on scene and taking the picture, the sign was fully functional, displaying all words completely. Needless to say, dispatch got a few Cell 911 calls from concerned motorists whose attention it attracted.

Stormsfury, where did you get that? I almost lost a friend in the crash...she was on the way to Michigan State University for a conference. The 60 car crash broke numerous records for the DOT in the state of Wisconsin. Families of the deceased received bills from the firefighters/hospitals for the care of their loved ones. Needless to say, the bills were sent back to the sender with the words "DECEASED" on them.

Oh my goodness. If I were driving along and saw that sign I might cause an accident double checking to see if I read the sign correctly!

southerngale, that is why I am questioning it. If there was a sign with that caliber along side I43, the news media would have been all over it like a pack of dogs on a 3 legged cat. Along with the massive outrage from the public, news stations from Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, etc would have gone gangbusters. I don't remember the media describing a story like that nor, seeing pictures of the sign. I almost lost a friend in the crash, and it was a relief that she was able to take the detour around the massive 60 car pile up near Cedarburg. That portion of I43 is only a few miles from Lake Michigan and there are already signs along the road saying watch for fog.
