I'm curious to know what does it take to be
called a "S2K Forecaster"? Must you have a degree in
Meteorology?

A proven track record of good forecasting and knowledge of the weather is required to become a STORM2K forecaster. That indeed is a subjective judgement on the part of myself(the forecast team manager) and the admins and staff at this site. The current group of forecasters have more than proven they are worthy of the title here.
Some of our forecasters are also Professional Mets that do work in the industry and have Meteorology degrees.
And before anyone starts in with "you are trying to replace the NHC, TPC, or any other official agency STOP!!! We are not trying to replace anyone. We are here to hopefully educate those less knowledgeable and to possibly supplement the Official products that are issued with more in depth explanations. You will note that our forecasts state that we are not official and not to use our forecasts for life and death weather decisions.
We are ALWAYS open to suggestions as to how we could improve our products. Please feel free to pm any of the forecasters or admins with any constructive suggestions your might have.

Furthermore ... no, we are not trying to replace the NHC/TPC, or any other NWS agency. Some of us specialize in medium range, long range, short term, CONUS, and regional areas. As VB stated, half of the S2K forecast team are professional mets, and the other half could very well have been with very good track records.
Just a reminder, ALWAYS follow the official agencies for watches/warnings ... we are an alternative source for information from the NWS agencies, and like to discuss meteorology further that you don't get to see behind the scenes at the NWS ... basically speaking.
