Cape Verde System about to commence

#1 Postby stormernie » Wed Jul 28, 2004 9:39 am

There are 3 very well develop Tropical Waves in Africa, the first should emerge off Africa tonight, with another one emerging by Friday. The final one should come off by Sunday/Monday timeframe. All three seem to have low pressure system with good cyclonic rotation.

Dr. Steve Lions said yesterday that the huge low pressure system over the Cape Verde Islands moving westward was not going to develop but it will lower the pressures in the area providing a better environment for the next wave to come. Also, I think the huge low could also remove some of the dry air and fine dust particles around the area. The Future Looks Promising!

The first convection you see is a windsurge ahead of a wave, not an actual wave; the next wave to come off Africa is actually centered in Eastern Burkina Faso, and isn't going to come off tonight, but tomorrow at the earliest. It is spinning nicely, however; remember the blob of convection doesn't always signify a wave axis.

The next wave, which is over Southern Chad right now, is also spinning nicely.
