This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Blue moon hurricane July 31! Where is it??

#1 Postby The_Cycloman_PR » Wed Jul 28, 2004 10:33 am

Do you remember someone's post talking about a deadly major hurricane hitting Florida on July 31, 04 (Doomsday Hurricane)???
Well today is July 28, and we don't have even an Invest to watch. The closest thing the Floridians have is the system over the Bahamas and It does'nt has favorable conditions right now. Being the deadline on July 31, it will be needed a system to form, develop into a TC and reach Major cagegory, and even then head toward Florida and hit it in 3 days!!

Well...NOT A CHANCE

Moral...Forecasts, and predictions have to be based on cientific data not lunar rocks!!!

Yes I was going to post about it before you did.Well nothing scientific about the prediction and the results are NO MAJOR HURRICANE hitting Florida on july 31.  :roll:Non scientific predictions have to be taken with a big grain of salt.

There are "other types" of hurricanes, you know..In spanish language, "hurricane" is often used to describe the aftermath of a disaster, not necesarily hurricane related ie "Parece que paso un huracan por aqui" ( Seems that a hurricane came thru here")

The state of the world as it is, we shouldn't take things at face value, especially from someone that claims to know the future..

I actually looked at his site upon reading some of his posts. Apparently he would shut his site down if his prediction was false... I hope he follows through. :)

Sorry bout that, I thought hial2 was being for real. I'll try to be more in tune to my lunar disposition with my tropical inclinations.

I think it was Stormman or AJStorm (probably the same person) predicting it would happen. He said it was based on a dream he had.

Rockdude was just a troll on hurricanecity who also posted as opalstorm. Caused a lot of chaos.

Anyway, although some storms can "pop up", the so-called Blue Moon Hurricane would have to have already formed by now.

Then again, if something develops before or on July 31st and eventually becomes a hurricane, AJStorm will probably claim his prediction was right.

Funny thing is, in some seasons, tropical activity has been known to peak around full moons.

>>>>He said it was based on a dream he had.

If I made a prediction of every hurricane dream I ever had and they came true, I would have died several times by now. I'll never forget the one when I was about 18. I was in the Gulf of Mexico and a storm was moving in. There were these ENORMOUS waves that I was just bobbing in. Then I saw my ultimo body surf wave. It was 70 or 80 feet tall. I got in it and was getting carried to shore where I was on the way to hell (but not in a handbasket).

Well, there is absolutely no chance of a doomsday hurricane striking on the 31st but he could be considerred right I guess if a TD developed on the 31st and went on to become a super devastating hurricane and hit land. People could call it the "blue moon" hurricane then since it formed on the Blue Moon-makes sense to me anyway. Models do indicate development off Africa next few days-who knows.
