First Depression to form in Eastern Atlantic
I know everyone is key up on the disturbances in the Gulf and off the Southeast coast. However, from all indications I will bet that the first depression forms in the Eastern Atlantic in August... maybe as early as August 1.

Well, it turns out that the one out by the Cape Verdes didn't become the first TD. Actually, when I heard that the one near the east coast became TD1, I thought that the Cape Verde system had a better chance to become a full fledged TS because of its appearance. However, this morning it doesn't look so well organised at all.
It's soon going to move away from the shear but look at how widespread and strong our old friend SAL is! It's the worst I've seen in a while:
