7:00 AM CDT STORM2K TROPICAL UPDATE, Monday August 2, 2004

#1 Postby vbhoutex » Mon Aug 02, 2004 7:13 am

Today's 7:00 am Atlantic Basin tropical update is located at:

http://www.storm2k.org/weather/s2kforecast.html

Tropical Storm Alex is still stationary near the South Carolina coast and could begin to move later today. Is he strengthening?

As always comments are welcomed.

Shouldn't they be considering upgrading the TS watches to hurricane watches for those closest to Alex? The possibility of a hurricane within 12 hours is very real now, and I would think erring just a bit on the side of caution could be a good thing...

200% in agreement, although the system may not make landfall, it will brush the coast, and I think tomorrow at this time we will be talking about Hurricane Alex.

Well, I'm not enthusiastic at all. Looks like it will remain offshore. We barley had moderate showers yesterday. :grr:

I imagine Hurricane Watches are a real possibility later today as Alex continues to strengthen. However, if he does not come back to a more NE course as expected then they may not even be needed. Alex is definitely winding up and I expect him to become a Hurricane later today, probably at the 11pm advisory. Could be earlier, but I have not had a chance to check much of anything this am due to appts.
