Letter to Dixie Chicks

#1 Postby bfez1 » Thu Mar 27, 2003 10:19 am

Subject: Dixie Chick
(Very well stated and the closing question is powerful.)
Letter from radio station website in Lubbock, home of the Dixie Chick that
spewed forth about our president:
Name: LT Layne McDowell
Date: 03/15/03
Time: 01:54:49 PM
Comment
An open letter to the Dixie Chicks:
Earlier this week, while performing in London, you stated that you were
ashamed that our President is from your home state. I wonder if you
realized how many Americans would be listening. This American was
listening. This Texan is ashamed that you come from my state. I serve my
country as an officer in the United States Navy. Specifically, I fly F-14
Tomcats off carriers around the world, executing
the missions that preserve the very freedom you claim to exercise. I have
proudly fought for my country in the skies over Kosovo, Iraq and
Afghanistan without regret. Though I may disagree wholeheartedly with your
comments, I will defend to the death your right to say them, in America.
But for you to travel to a foreign land and publicly criticize our
Commander in Chief is cowardice behavior. Would you have so willingly made
those comments while performing for a patriotic, flag-waving crowd of
Texans in Lubbock. I would imagine not. How dare you pocket profits off
songs about soldiers, their deaths and patriotism while criticizing their
Commander in Chief abroad, even while they prepare to give their lives to
ensure your own freedom of speech. Please ask yourself, what have you done
to deserve that sacrifice? Do not try to justify your comments by claiming
that you made them only because you care about innocent lives. Never once
in our history have we committed troops to war for the purpose of taking
innocent lives. We do it to protect innocent lives, even yours. If the
world leaders of the late 1930's had the vision and courage of our present
Commander in Chief, perhaps the evil men who caused the death of millions
in WWII would have never had the opportunity to harm a soul. The potential
loss of millions of lives in the future at the hands of today's evil men
necessitate action. In a separate correspondence, I am returning to you
each and every Dixie Chicks CD and cassette that I have ever purchased.
Never again will I allow my funds to support your behavior. All you have
done is to add your name to a growing list of American "Celebrities" who
have failed to realize that they have obtained their successes on the backs
of the American blue-collar workers such as our servicemen and women.
To Natalie Maines: This Texan...this American will continue to risk his
life to guarantee your freedoms. What will you do to deserve it?

Well said by the Lt. It's the common folk that fight for our freedom. Or in the words of another "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." We see what the Dixie chicks and the hollywood gang our doing for our country! As we say here in Tomcat (F-14) land, we say to all our enemies (including those here) who want to take us on.... "Anytime. Baby"

Superb letter expressing American ideals and patriotism. We DO stand for our country back here in the USA. Obviously other countries do not, but I guess that could be why no other nation in the history of the world has ever had a GDP output rate anywhere close to ours. And what about our military might and technology? It was this very notion that prevented the Soviets from embarking on a worldwide conquest, especially at the dawn of the Reagan era, in which case he basically squeezed their nuts so tightly in the technology/arms race that they fell apart at the seams. Also, note that never before has democracy lasted at such a level as it has here. Since when were the American people stupid enough to fall under the trickery and rule of a dictator? Or what about the Communist Red Storm? NOT! We aren't that stupid! Europe is though, as is a large part of Asia...

As for Ms. Maines, she is an idiot plain and simple. She has fallen under the ridiculous extremist left-wing Liberalism of Hollywood and the entertainment world. Just listen to the girl talk for a minute in an interview! Did she graduate HS? My God, learn before you speak!!!

I can guarantee you one thing, some radio stations from all over the US were pulling Dixie Chicks from their playlists by listener's requests.

Some internet radio stations were still advertising for "The Official Dixie Chicks Fan Club". That maybe pulled too.

Actually... to give you the very latest on this story... many radio stations who pulled the Chicks music have now put in back into their playlist/rotation. Only Cumulus Broadcasting Stations have officially banned Chick's music, even going so far as to drop Bob Kingsley's Top 40 Countdown because they could not (under contract) not play the Dixie Chick's "Travelin' Soldier", which just happened to be #1 last week.

In addition, an online petition website has a petition going around asking stations to add the Chicks back into their playlist.

My view... can we just let sleeping dogs lie? I can't believe this is still an issue.

Chad... that is great. But what I would ask of you is to boycott everything that anyone has made terrible remarks about the President. If you believe firmly in that principle then I respect you for having the willingness to stand firm to your principles.

The Dixie *Twits* LOL!!!

The first time I saw the Dixie Chicks was here in Irving, TX when I was still in Elementary school. They were holding a beard contest for guys. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay long, b/c I had to go shopping with my mom.
