Ft. Worth ISD: Have parents talk to students about war instead of the staff talking to students.
Arlington ISD: To do more work and less news watching in school.
Irving ISD: Allowed to watch news in school under teacher's discresion.
Dallas ISD: Should stick to the lesson plans.
What a few DFW schools are doing during the war...

I think that the kids should be informed about the war, especially in the high school age level. Maybe there is no need to watch tv in elementary schools, but if the kids are scared and have questions the teacher should answer them the best way possible, and from a neutral standpoint may I add.

"firehead", astute as ever, is already asking about the new "pixel" brown-to-tan Marine camo he's seen in the news...and is thinking very hard about which branch of the Armed Servies to join, once he reaches "that age". :o
Annabelle, on the other hand, only wants to know when the next errant piece of "people food" will drop...

[b]Believe me......young people are hurting about this too......
Comments come up daily about what is going on in our world. After 9/11, I could sense hopelessness in a few of our students. (High School age) I ALWAYS take the time to listen and discuss what is on their minds about the world they live in and are part of.
Extreme pride about friends/family in the military often collide with questions about the purpose of this war. Only a tiny handful do not seem to have opinions.......I think their minds have been clouded with illegal substances.......very sad.
This week, as about ten girls kept their hands busy with their particular project, their mouths were busy discussing this war. They are very afraid and a few are even unable to sleep thru an entire night. Two young ladies loudly voiced their protests........and it was interesting to see exactly how much attention these kids ARE paying to what is happening. Most are current in their comments........and when they relay to the others........those "others" actually are listening! Negative opinions are changing quickly.
My own son (21) is also paying close attention.....he has a few friends fighting in these battles. I myself, am very afraid for what lies ahead for our troops..............but know without a doubt we ARE doing the right thing.
The other morning when an injured soldier was interviewed on TV........I was so impressed when he said "Sure, you can pray for me........but pray for the others......pray for my boys".
