Do we have everyone? Father strands 8 yr old

Incredible happy ending - I'm sure this father will never make a mistake like this again! Sounds like a scene from an old Doris Day movie but it's true! Just glad it all turned out well. I wonder where the little girl was this entire time - wandering around the grocery store alone? Oh my if so....

Father Leaves Eight-Year-Old Stranded

A father's apparent oversight left an eight-year-old girl stranded in Cincinnati.

Police say the father called 911 from his car when he realized his eight-year-old was missing.

He and several other children were in a van headed to Texas when they stopped at a grocery store.

He thought the girl was in the vehicle when he left, but later discovered she was not.

Police picked her up and released her to Hamilton County Family Services, where she will be reunited with her father.

No charges are expected.

Would you believe this actually happened to me? I was about the same age. We were on vacation and stopped for gas. My parents left without me! They came back after about half an hour. Surprisingly I didn't panic, figuring that they'd realize it sooner or later. Looking back on it now, it's more scary than it was then.

Well Ed, for crying out loud - you poor guy!!! I was lost in a nursery type store. I remember wading thru tall plants and a clerk finding me. I was asked to climb up into this tall booth, where employees watched the customers from I guess. That's where they paged my mom from and I waited. Seemed like forever but it was mere minutes she said.

We both survived didn't we? Your ordeal sounds scarier knowing they had left without you. Did you have lots of siblings? My husband is one of six and I can see someone getting left behind, but only for a few minutes. Their family vacations sound like just the Brady Bunch Grand Canyon episodes - long woody station wagon, huge cooler in back for sandwiches, drinks, etc. No one wore seat belts and they rotated the child between the parents, since every seat was a bench seat. But I never heard they lost anyone.

Mary, at the time, it was just my younger brother and me. (I have 4 older siblings.) My brother was asleep and never got out of the car. I think that for whatever reason I got out of the car to go to the bathroom while my parents were inside paying for gas or whatever.
