Early Crowfest 2004

#1 Postby jlauderdal » Thu Aug 05, 2004 5:30 am

I am inviting all members of the board and also including NHC to my house this weekend for a huge crowfest. Between the blown intensity forecast on Alex and the blown track forecast on #2 we can all eat crow for one or both of the systems. Crow prices increased sharply as demend peaked once it was obvious #2 wasn;t shotting almost due N per our ever friendly models. I will take mine with tabasco to help kill the bad taste. Crowfest 2004 will have to be cancelled if the rements of 2 give us rainy weather. The same 2 that was supposed to be shooting over PR and out to sea. See ya Saturday. Happy Forecasting!!

Uh, you didn't state a time. I have the mapo ready for distribution once you set a time.

At the rate we are going this season verification wise we will all be crow gourmands before the peak of season, much less the end of season.

The time will be when td 2 rements or whatever form hit fort lauderdale so we can all stand in the rain in my backyard and say..hey wasnt this supposed to be about 500 miles east of here. Not sure how soaking wet crow will tast but we all deserve it thats for sure. Max Mayfield and the gang has yet to RSVP.

It doesn't seem like Tropical Depression #2/Ex-Tropical Depression #2's forecast track was that far off; even if it has been... it isn't that drastic and that isn't too uncommon for tropical waves and tropical depressions.

The track it is taking is already off by several hundred miles...

I have no reason to disagree. The initial forecast was made from forecast models when the storm was "just a depression" to a not a shock of it being what it is now.

I also mention after seeing those models that they are used for guidance not actually forecasting.

The Two track was dependent on it being an actual tropical cyclone. Had it even become a 45-50 kt TS, it would have recurved as depicted over the Dominican Republic Northwards.

I know what I mean. Please trust me, I most often agree with those things that I have no reason to disagree with. I obviously can't state facts and my opinions in the "proper way." My apologies.

Absolutely Correct. It didnt get to the intensity forecasted and thus a bad track forecast and thus almost all of us get a serving of crow.
