T. Wave, Troffs -vertical or horizontal?

#1 Postby john186292 » Thu Aug 05, 2004 7:51 am

Tropical wave: is it ,
1. as seen from satellite, a bend of winds looking like a wave, maybe with the crest pointed to the west?
Cause?

2. as seen from ship's deck, like a nearby egyptian pyramid cut in half by a saw streching from seabed to moon, with crest pointed skyward?

Troffs formed when cold fronts come down...are they a trough...

1. as seen from a satellite, the bottom apex of the cold front's "V" , the apex leading the way south?

2. as seen by a farmer, the carved down remaining part of the lower air level,... low and trough-like compared to the more southerly, unaffected, fatter, taller hot lowest layer?

do on-air mets also get confused as to which is the true definition?

Many Thanks,
john {i'm not really this dumb in other fields, just a newbie. LOL }
