Well, Stephanie...America has this nauseating tendency to demand "instant results", a nice, clean war, fast food-entertainment-service-whatever. It is almost as if we want it NOW, sanitized and prepackaged for mass consumption.
I raised this question long ago, on another site...does the U.S. have the "thrassos" ("guts" or "stomach", Greek) to stick it out for the long haul? To what end is Mom and Pop America willing to support what is NECESSARY to clean the snake-pit...not to mention the "me, first" generation of kids I see every day, who may be called on to take the initiative and "get in there"?

You're right Streetsoldier and I remember your other posts. There was alot of "hoping" prior to us enterring Iraq and in the first days that it would be over and done quickly - perhaps months. We have made alot of progress, but as you stated too, they are going to need more troops which they will be receiving an additional 120,000.

the word is Cojonés. However, the rest of the World is expecting the same-probably from all our bragging about "Shucks and Gee Whiz" (Oops that should be Shock and Awe) before this started and analysts believe that we have perhaps a 4-6 week window to get this all done before we look like a bunch of losers to the World. In a very pointed opinion piece in the Philippine Inquirer, it was pointed out that we are making the same mistakes about the Civilian population of Iraq that we did in Vietnam even to using the same excuses. Bottom line, which we forgot, is that the Arab population hates us more than they do their brutal leaders so we are not being looked upon as Liberators-additionally, Britain as the former Colonial power here is also looked upon with much suspicion.
