Olsen Twins Build $7.3 Million Dorm Room

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen won't be living in any ordinary dorm room when they start studying as New York University freshmen next month.

The billionaire Olsens, 18, will be spending $7.3 million for four connecting penthouses in Greenwich Village – meaning they can save bus fare by walking to campus, reports The New York Times, which offers up the architectural blueprints of the pad that the sisters have under construction.

The 5,725-sq.ft. spread is on the 15th floor, and one twin will face south, with a view of the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor, while the other will face north, to look at the Empire State Building and midtown Manhattan.

Both bedroom suites have their own bathrooms, studies, and walk-in closets. Separate entrance doors and foyers lead to separate wings.

Friends can also stop by – and stay, as there are two guest bedrooms, as well as a screening room, kitchen, breakfast area, dining room, living room, family room and two and a half more bathrooms.

No completion date of construction was reported.

They'll probably rent out the other 14 floors and make money on it that way. Like Trump does. :)

Must be nice!! Kinda reminds me of that movie Back to School when Rodney Dangerfield (Thornton Melon) "remodeled" he and his son's dorm room!

Just think what they could do with all the extra space if they avoided building the kitchen, breakfast area, and dining room. Bwahahah!

But, I spose here in Iowa was the middle of nowhere for them. They probably wouldn't like the smell of fresh air and growing corn. Just thought I would add that in there, haha.

Haha, very true. I doubt they do a lot of things for themselves. Hmmm I wonder how much homework they will actually do??

Why on earth do we do silly things like this? I mean, we can't carry our stuff with us into the afterlife. You know, it's all about vanity.

And when I think of how many hungry mouths that money could have been used to buy food for etc., it makes me kinda sick.

Our priorities are really screwed up bigtime, folks!

...and you know, you are so right Abajan.

I find it strange that people like Al Queda strike out at materialism...capitalism...and greed, and yet they seek out and have millions upon millions of dollars to further their own cause.

I am guilty as charged as well. The hard work and good opportunities we create for ourselves is turned into high speed internet, cell phones, and a pool to cool off in when we are hot.

But never, ever, have I been anything but humbled by the gifts..and in turn make a conscious effort to give back without expectation that which can change the lives of others.

I doubt the Ohlsen twins will ever have the opportunity to experience the power of humility.

And you always here about the celebrities giving stuff to the poor and needy. But yet there are hundreds upon hundreds of people that are celebrities and do it every day!! And they don't care if they got thanked by the press because they know what they did was right. Unlike most celebrities who just do it for the press.
