Here is the info. coming off the wires as I have it at this time...

The plane, traveling from Istanbul to Ankara, was hijacked after takeoff and was heading toward Athens, Greece, private NTV television reported.

The station reported a single hijacker entered the cabin and originally demanded the plane be flown to Germany. For reasons unkown, it changed course and headed to Greece instead

One Turkish television reported there were 190 passengers and seven crew aboard the flight.

Another station said there were 194 passengers and nine crew.

There was speculation that a number of Turkish VIPs might be aboard.

Latest AP report says that after consultation the plane was allowed to land in Athens. It is on the ground now, confirmation coming from the transportation minister. More as it comes off the wire...

ANKARA (Reuters) - A Turkish Airlines Airbus jet carrying 203 people hijacked on Friday had landed in Athens, Turkey's Transport Minister Binali Yildirim said.
Yildirim told the Turkish CNN Turk channel there was believed to be only one hijacker who was insisting on being taken to Berlin.

"We have information that he wants to go to Tegel (airport in Berlin)," Yildirim said.

Here is the latest wire report...

New info from the AP wire...

The plane, an Airbus-310, was traveling from Istanbul to Ankara when it was hijacked.

There were reports that a number of VIPs -- including two members of the Turkish parliament and the general manager of one of Turkey's largest banks -- might be among the passengers.

Sky Turk television reported a single hijacker entered the cabin and demanded the plane be flown to Germany. For reasons unkown, it changed course and headed to Greece.

The hijacker reportedly said there was a bomb on board and threatened to blow up the plane.

Sky Turk reported there were 194 passengers and nine crew aboard.
