Um, actually NOT surprised here ... the outflow boundaries that have blasted out of the bands came from the OUTER bands and are blowing away ... there are NO outflow boundaries even close to the circ. center, and the cyclone has free run of inflow from the south ...

Bonnie, on the other hand ... well, she's exposing herself...

999 mb can sustain 60-65 mph winds. I think they will find stronger winds.

Mike it seems to me that Charley may be heading on a wnw-nw course if this verifies then I think the threat to Fla and the Keys increases.

Also, once be passes 70 W which is well on its way than intensification may commence because of better inflow from the South.

Please let me know what you think

Once the outer convection weakens could that cause more energy to be focused closer to the center?

Yes HD that is correct more energy will be focused near the center.

Yes thats what happen last night, when the western Band weaken. The central core is being sucked clean at the moment but later expect this could come together.

I saw a visible image and I couldn't help but notice that there DID appear to be a well-defined center, outflow boundaries notwithstanding. I believe this thing will still become a hurricane before all is said and done.

Yeah ... call it a cleansing of the system ...

Again, with such a large envelope of Charley, I didn't expect this thing to immediately take off, BUT once it slowly does, things will begin to snowball, and possibly quite rapidly when things come together ... that's a BIG concern ...
