FLA 'Don't hog all the Storms'
Must be a bitter sweet time to live in Florida if your are a hurricane enthusiast. Two storms taking a direct aim at the same area. As much as I want to see a hurricane take aim at my area, I would be quite nervous if I were in you guys shoes. Enjoy the experience and stay safe.

Yep, we've definitely had our share. TV here has been showing tracks of Bonnie and Charley passing right on top of us at about the same time. Could be an interesting weekend once again on the carolina coast.

Andrew '92, Katrina '05, Gustav '08, Isaac '12, Ida '21...and countless other lesser landfalling storms whose names have been eclipsed by "The Big Ones".
The W and N GOM
Remember what many have posted before:
BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR
When a CAT 4 or 5 is plowing its way across the GOM toward and TX and LA with no trough protection; you may change you mind on experiencing a hurricane. Its a down right scary experience when the wind is blasting over 100MPH. Been there, done that, and dont want it.
Additionally the seaon is very early with an abnormal pattern for now. This will be changing next week and JB is tracking two more systems that may become a threat to the Central and W GOM next weekend.

With any luck, if you live a normal lifetime, you'll likely to see at least one storm that will knock those slash pines over in St. Tammany Parish down like toothpicks and temporarily relocate Lake Pontchartrain across portions of 190. Well..they were predicting back when Georges was coming at us that if a cat 5 storm came right up the mouth of the river...everything south of I 12 would be underwater. That is just beyond my realm of comprehension..I can't even fathom that. I live a couple of miles from the lake...and I can't even comprehend my house flooding..I guess I live kinda between Lake Pontchartrain and the Tchefuncte River.

Yes. I have seen the SLOSH model map that illustrates the worst case you describe. It is mind-boggling in the scope and severity of flooding it portrays.
