This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Also looks like maybe Sarasota and Ft Myers and south may avoid direct hit as well.....at this rate it may indeed end up in the panhandle..LOL...It would appear (for now) that the brunt of the storm may bypass Orange Seminole Volusia Brevard and Osceola counties, with top winds no more than about 60mph..that's great news though I have canceled a trip to VA because of this..Rain and possible twisters on the other hand will still be a problem.
Some local broadcasters still expecting hurricane force winds, even with the latest update. Puzzling??!?

Your expectations of precision for a 36-48 hour track forecast are FAR too high.

If the winds get up to 105 kts... then you would see hurricane force winds the entire length of its Florida transit. Currently Charley looks to be going for around Tampa, though maybe it will go north to as far as the Sawanee River. If the forecast goes west of that, I'll be feeling pretty foolish.

Charley has me wondering this morning.

Not good news for us folks here in Pinellas county. The last time this area was hit was 1921. A hit now by even a moderate
strom would be devastating.

Not so, using uncertain terms like 'may' and 'maybe', versus 'will' or 'should', does not necessarily indicate high expectations.
