Bonnie Regenerating Off Carolina Coast?!?!

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

It's merged with a front and is extratropical. Not a chance.

extratropical development off Charleston

#6 Postby cswitwer » Thu Aug 12, 2004 8:46 pm

It's blowing into Charleston SC now... actually it's still out between Kiawah Island and Edisto Island, but moving fast (25mph). I am looking to the southeast and see wicked lightening. Local stations are predicting 40-50mph winds here in the next few minutes.

You have to be kidding right?

If I'm seeing things right it's just moving out of Georgia.

not far tho

But we're not that far from Savannah, so yeah, we're fixing to get that mess that's just off-coast right now. Candles and weather radios are already set out, river flood statements are in effect, and my driveway is completely innundated... and I wasn't expecting much until Saturday! Wish us luck!

I am East of the Cooper and not much rain here yet. The sky was just so grey all day long. I was thinking Bonnie was going to be inland of us. SO the worst is yet to come? (Not including Sat. am, of course)

Radar and the view out my window both show it's breaking up now. How far East of the Cooper are you, KrisJ? I'm near Folly.

I was getting a really scary lightening show toward the coast, but it's much less now. I think it maybe I can go to bed now. (yawn) Check out News 24-- we're on Level 3 alert.

It certainly appears to be making an effort to do so:

There is a Tornado warning headed right my way. I hear thunder, but no wind.
I think it is on its way. I've only lived here a year. I am used to basements in the midwest. What the heck do you do when you don't have a basement in a tornado? The kids are all asleep upstairs. Do I leave them?
I can't get a decent street map up on the news website.

A closet, preferbly in the center part of your house. Stay away from windows.

It's cancelled. The area of rotation is now near the 17 street bridge, over the Harbor. I used this link to find the hook (and zoomed in). http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radbl ... &map.y=237

Sorry it's long-- it's on Weather underground.

Pressure is still changing rapidly-- we're dizzy with headaches, but okay. Storm seems to have just moved on. (I'm at Folly & Windermere)
