Rainband, you may have said so at an earlier date, but, have you been through a hurricane before?

This will be my first experience as well.

I think I will be ok were I live, my biggest concern is making sure my boys feel safe and are not too scared. We have lots of junk food, games and I will try to make it fun. Their grandmother will be staying with us as well sothat will be a treat for them. My plan is to keep them very occupied through the event. I have also charged my laptop to the fullest - when the power goes out I can always pop in a DVD for them to watch. That should keep their minds off what is going on outside for at least an hour and a half.

Anyone else have any ideas for hurricane kid friendly activities?

Rainband - are you boarded up?

Many of my friend were surprised to find out I was a little anxious today, rather than joyeously in my hayday! Reality Bites...sometimes

I know exactly what you mean! My wife has pointed it out to me many times today already!

On a serious note - I am real concerned for the people who live so close to the coast here in pasco county. There are a tremendous amount of mobile home parks and manufactured home communities on the west side of US 19. Most of them are seniors. My mother in law is coming to stay with us, but so many other people like her simpky have no where to go and refuse to go to shelters.
