Posting Mid Atlantic WX Maps

#1 Postby Stephanie » Fri Aug 13, 2004 8:16 am

We would like to request that those of you that have Mid-Atlantic maps that they want to post, to only post their link. Scott has to pay for that bandwith out of pocket.

Thanks for your understanding!!! :D

If the map is on another server,
it doesn't use any bandwidth on this server.

Time to read Networks 101 ...LOL, geez.

Now follows the peanut gallery response...Daytona, watch..LOL

We have maps on OUR server here (see the home page). I think they might be asking us to only post links to the S2K maps if we post them elsewhere.

Yeah that makes more sense. I understand why Sirocco was confused, I thought the same thing, that you weren't allowing other sites images to be shown directly. Well the confusion has been mitigated. Thanks.

We're possibly looking at a GOM TC in next week and a central Atl fish storm. Charley is a HUGE problem and I'll get to the Noname twins over the weekend at Mid-Atlantic WX.com. I'm running the other maps but not publishing (you're not missing anything) but 3 maps on the page is a very slow load and uses excessive bandwidth.

Concerning the new (Mid-Atlantic WX.com) site... I was out-of-town all day and didn't know this thread was here, but thanks to Stephanie

Short & sweet. Mid-Atlantic has nothing to do with WREL; it's my own site. I built it b/c WREL will go in a different direction and I'm no longer compensated to do wx on the web (just on-air). This required me finding a sponsor so I can operate the site and generate maps on a (hopefully) reliable server. If no one goes to the sponsor, the money goes bye-bye. Then, I'm doing maps on a free server and will use my daily bandwidth by 6AM and I can serve no one.

We're thrilled with the traffic and comments :D
But, hot linking bypasses the sponsor; that means no money.

This may be an old site to others, but I, no pro, just got it and like it!
