"Jaws dropping after hearing 'category 4'"

#1 Postby Tri-State_1925 » Fri Aug 13, 2004 1:13 pm

This is what is being reported now. That is the sign of residents being poorly warned in my opinion.

As much as people all over the state were warned over the past couple of days, the possibility of this thing going category 4+ was not put out there for this storm like I've seen in the past. That people are JUST NOW scrambling for higher ground is not good. I heard just a few hours ago about MANY people in the Fort Myers area -- right on the coast -- saying how they were going to gut this out no matter what happens -- I don't know if they would have changed their minds if they knew 145 mph sustained winds were bearing in on them. This could get very dangerous and deadly for these people unfortunately.

2 sisters and a brother there in Punta Gorda. They were not expecting a Cat 4 nor were they expecting it to be this far south or this early. Everything was pointing to Tampa/St. Pete area with a later tonight landfall, maybe making it to a week cat 3. They were not prepared for this. Many are now running just for their lifes. Please excuse my emotions on this, and all please just pray that God will spare life.
