Interesting WV loop showing EXCELLENT outflow pattern with jet pulling air out of storm's northern quadrants.
Like I mentioned previously, there is no reason to believe that this won't re-strengthen to at least a weak Cat 2. There is still very little shear affecting the storm, and since it is moving rapidly NNE-NE, the jet will only act to ventilate it. Look at what Alex did as it accelerated NE along the coast. In fact, this storm looks to follow a track very close to Alex, but the trough will pull it further N at a certain point, probably bringing gusts to hurricane strength all the way up the east coast to perhaps Long Island. The Outer Banks won't be able to take much more this year.

Charley will certainly enter the Atlantic as a hurricane. Will be interesting to see how well it can re-organize when it gets back over the water. If it's called a landfall when a hurricane hits land, maybe it's a waterfall when it goes back over water. j/k
