I wonder about inland folks
I just have to wonder about the folks in the more inland counties of Hardee, DeSoto, and Polk...I mean really, I know a guy that left St. Pete for his family's in wauchula...and I HIGHLY doubt that anybody in those counties suspected they would see what they did. We are hearing a lot out of Charlotte county...but Hardee is very rural and the only thing I have heard is that it is catastrophic. That is only about 30 miles inland, I would imagine they saw sustained well over 100 mph. I just hope everybody was okay.

I have family in Wauchula -- initial damage was a screened porch and covered carport lost, one winodw broken. But later the roof collapsed and the house is a loss (no one injured).
Also have a family member in a mobile home in Avon Park -- no damage... which they didn't know until much later because they had evacuated to the house in Wauchula.

Just saw it
I just saw Wauchula on CNN...looks BAD. I went through Georges, Elena, and observed damage caused by Opal and Erin and I can only say that the damage that far inland in Wauchula was at least as bad as what I have seen with those.
