Media Clarification!

#1 Postby perk » Sat Aug 14, 2004 2:51 pm

Iwas just watching the Fox News Channel's tropical update. The meteorologist stated that TD#5 might take the same track as Charley. What i think she meant is that TD#5 will take a similiar track through the carribean, beyond that the track is still up in thre air. Statements like this can be taken to mean that Charley will end up in Florida again, and this is something Floridians just don't need right now.

Gosh, isn't it too early for a media outlet to make a statement like that? I mean, only two of the, what, five models are even projecting out that far and of those, only one of them is showing the western Cuba track. This is what I mean by irresponsible journalism.

I heard the same thing on NBC. It's not just Fox News and they are right, TD5 (Earl) might take a similar track as Charley. Should that not even be mentioned? I would think EVERYONE should prepare now in case it does come their way!

I think you are right. I heard yesterday evening a local Tampa met (from CBS) say the same thing.

Yes i think it should be mentioned at the appropriate time which in IMO is not right now.Floridians have enough on their plates. The NHC will give the potential strike area plenty of time to prepare. This storm is at least 5 or 6 days away from affecting any US Mainland.
