I saw that. He might need to calm down, but then again he really makes it exciting and is probably the best there is at live hurricane reporting. :D And finally he managed to find himself in the right spot this time!

I was cursing Cantore last night. Why did he have to go to Tampa? By being there, he made it come to Orlando.

I thought the same thing as well. He FINALLY was in the right place in the right time and he's someone that I would always want to get first-hand live reports from.

I've been wanting to post that I was "happy" for him that he finally got a hurricane, but with the death and destruction, it just doesn't seem appropriate... :(

He also saw his very first waterspout, after years of broadcasting "on the scene"...

Cantore never fails for the real serious hurricanes.

He got Andrew in Baton Rouge, really made his career with Fran in 1996 with incredible reporting from the height of the wind and surge (also changed major hurricane reporting with that event from a few miles from the coast to right on the coast). Irene was a direct hit for He also got Lili, abliet a weaker one, and then last year he got hit hard from Isabel on the obx.

The Cantore curse really isnt as true as it seems

IMHO it is not a curse but ego. Jim wants to be in the path, sometimes he gets it wrong. Look at the am report and a women weatherperson was speaking in Ft, Myers. By afternoon, Jim had arrived and sent her to Daytona Beach. So if you want the weather channel best guess of storm landfall watch where Jim is. If he shows up in your town LEAVE!

I got to meet Cantore when he was down here during Hurricane Georges. I was watching TWC and there he was down on the beach. I got my camera and jumped in my car and off I went. He was sooo nice. Looks better in person than on TV......MGC

I agree. Cantore is the best guy to have out there reporting in the middle of a Hurricane! Amazing how it made that Eastward shift right toward Cantore!

My understanding is Mrs. Cantore was or is president of talent from the Weather Channel. It helps to have inside connections!

In Cantore's case, it doesn't matter. He would be there regardless.
