Eating Oreo's

#1 Postby NWIASpotter » Mon Aug 16, 2004 12:04 am

Since I'm just sitting here, reading the forums and eating oreo's. What is everybodies favorite way to eat an oreo?? Mine is either the classic dip in milk, or crushing them up and stirring them in ice cream.

Pop them right in and start crunching...I'm not one for wasting time playing with my food.

It's not a matter of playing, it's a matter of savor...

I understand that, but...I spent too many years gulping down my meals, because I was in a war zone, or citizens out there were crying in the streets for police protection, OR because there were lives to be lost in SAR if I didn't get in the field, "yesterday".

That's one of the "biggies" that I still have no clue how to deal with; my entire life has been spent taking care of others, while forgetting that I might have "needs"....as a result, things like "savor", "relax", "fun" are abstract concepts, as I have no experience in so doing.

Sorry for invading this thread... :(

Let me give you an example on how enjoy life even in place like hell (from http://bloghdad.splinder.com)
These persons enjoy their "spaghetti a mezzanotte" (spaghetti at midnight) almost every night, because that "ceremony" makes them feeling alive. There's time for gulping, and time for savoring.
Try once, cannot believe you have no time for just eat iso swallowing.

btw, what's written on the picture say:"gaiety on air at the burns unit... the revenge of life"

I like to dip them in milk or twist them open and lick the icing off first. :)

I understood what ya meant, Bill.

Besides, you still get to savor all the flavor that way. :) It's kind of like sushi -- you don't bite it or cut it and eat half first then the second half later. You have to eat the whole thing at once to get all the flavors combined in your mouth. :)

Sheesh, Paolo -- the thread was asking for everyone's favorite way to EAT an Oreo. StreetSoldier answered that. Don't nitpick him because of how he does it. Besides, we don't know -- but he may secretly be one of those rare breeds of pretzel eaters who likes to lick the salt off first.

GalvestonDuck is right, all I was really asking is how does everybody eat their oreo's. StreetSoldier, don't worry about your "invading this thread", your opinion is appreciated :) And I'm surprised me and Paolo are the only ones so far that like them in ice cream!! You have got to love oreo's in ice cream :D

I have an Oreo fettish.

Anyways, the way to eat.... I choose the classic way of submerging in milk.

Never was a huge fan of Oreo's but when I do eat one, it's like any other cookie, one bite after another. No dunking. No taking it apart. I know, I'm odd!

Funny thing is though, my kids always tell me now they're unhealthy to eat. Didn't a health type study article come out last year stating the icing is the part is very unhealthy? I swear if Laura is with me in Kroger's and I even ask - do you want Oreo's this week - she says - NO, they'll kill us! LOL

So now we all look at Oreo's a different way.

Just like there's no wrong way to eat a Reese's. :)

Yup, Mary -- there was a lawsuit by a S.F. attorney (later it was dropped) concerning the trans fat in Oreos. He wanted to ban selling them to children. After Kraft, the makers of the yummy cookie, agreed to reduce the amounts of partially hydrogenated oils in the cookies, he was satisfied and dropped the suit.

Yea, there is no wrong way to eat an oreo!! As for them being bad for your health, it seems like nearly everything has something that is bad for your health, and these are just some cookies. Haha, Mary I will always see oreos the way I have, great tasting, chocolate, with rich frosting, great anyway cookies!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D

Thanks once more for the real story Duckie. Couldn't quite remember the details but whatever Laura and her classmates learned in school, really stayed with her. Maybe the teacher said go get your lunches....let's see how many of you have oreo's today....probably 10 hands shot up! All I know is she came home from school that day and said we can't eat oreo's anymore! Even to this day if I buy them, my entire family has to say - now these things really aren't healthy for us....LOL I know they're exaggerating a bit but that lawsuit really did a number on my family members.
