Those barbs like black flags are strong winds and there is a weak low south of the CV islands.

Yeah, there is definitely a kink in the ITCZ oriented NW-SE. Too bad that map is from last September. ;)

Upper part of the image - 20030901 = September 1st 2003. In fact, that would be the wave that formed Isabel!!! NHC says Isabel began as a tropical wave that emerged from Africa on Sept. 1.

Well then the whole site is outdated. I did'nt know that the date of the picture was placed over there but they are suposed to update the site everyday. What a mess!!! AHHHHRRRRRR.....! SORRY...
