Did ya miss me...?

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Tue Aug 17, 2004 3:47 pm

Hey all.. Just wanted to check in and let you guys know what's up. I am 1 of 26,000 people still without power.. But the college is back open and has power.

Charley definitely was a major hurricane even if he wasn't technically when he came through here. You should see the trail of damage around here.

The Kissimmee tourist district looks like an atom bomb went off in some spots. There are trees and blown out signs everywhere.

Yes I was a little scared when Charley finally arrived. But I SURVIVED! That now means I have survived 2 hurricanes and 1 of them a major.. woo hoo...

I am hoping my power comes back on in the next couple days.. I took some damage photos from the other side of Kissimmee and may show them off if I can.

My place suffered only shingle damage and a tear in the screen covering my friends' pool. But the rest of the neighborhood looks terrible.

I don't know when I can post again.. I'm hoping I get lights soon. I hope you guys weren't too worried.

By the way.. Yes I got hurt by Charley. But my injury was minor. I have received about 25-30 insect bites from picking up debris..

Also when I get power back.. I will type up my own version of a Hurricane Charley storm report.

You wouldn't believe the damage here and in St. Cloud

Glad to hear that Luis.. Charley was definitely 1 incredible storm..

We lost power around 8:30 Friday night.. I'm hoping when I go home, I either have power back or are about to get it back.

Ah...uh huh...insect bites, eh?

Seems someone forgot to pack insect repellant in his hurricane supplies, hmmmmmmm???? :)

(Told ya you needed to be sure. :) At least it was a minor thing you forgot.)

Hope you make it through the aftermath and power loss quickly. Take care and post again when you can!

Huzzah! Welcome back!

That makes three folks I've been wondering about who've checked back in today. Thankfully all are fine.

Glad you made it through okay!! It was surrealistic (to say the least) to turn on the TV in Gainesville (where we expected to ride out the storm before returning to Sarasota) on Friday night to watch the Olympics on Orlando's NBC affiliate and instead find that Charley had pre-empted the opening ceremonies as it made its way up I-4. I assume you don't feel a great need to ride out any more hurricanes...

John, glad you are ok. Wow, Charley was 145-150 mph at landfall.

John - welcome back and I'm glad you fared well. Considering you only got bug bites, that's pretty darn good!
