Ex hurricane Danielle and ex-Charley to gang up on the U.K??
I know this forum is mostly about american hurricane threats I would just like to bring your attention to a very possibly dangerous situation:
"It's happened... the latest UKMO, GFDL and GFS runs have now come into line and are forecasting remnants of Hurricane Charley to join with remnants of Hurricane Danielle which is currently a Category 3 hurricane and on target to cross the Azores in the next few days as a Category 2 hurricane."
Just what sort of system could we expect in the U.K if the two of them 'merge???
(thanks and hi everyone,I'm new!)

I understand that these two systems will be merging next week and bringing well, who knows. Interestigly, with a lot of energetic systems origininating from the tropics we have had some record breaking weather the last few weeks. Even last night, an area of LP, 984mb developed in the channel out of no where - not picked up on any models whatsoever. A gust of 85mph was reported just W of here - I record a gust of 58.6mph with my Kestral 4000!
Will have to see was happens.
We have had enough rain however what with the devastating flash floods in Cornwall and now large landslides in Scotland - people over here are wondering what will be next to be honest. The weather is sure making headline news over here.

I honestly haven't been following Charley's remains the last few days, but would guess they would eventually move close to the UK as a gale center. Tropical Storm Danielle is also expected to become a gale center soon and be one when her remains move across the Azores headed NE towards the UK in a few days. As far as storms merging and becoming a bigger stronger system due to the "merge" I will leave that one to the professional mets on the site.

If I remember rightly the great storm of 1703 was almost such a system where two very deep LP's combined and swang round each other sort of giving a double dose of there power.
They also beacme even stronger giving gusts of 120MPH

LOL KW -sent you a PM before seeing your post - and yes had rumbled who you were. Talking about lows swinging around each other, the LP we had last night was contained within the flow of a larger LP centered over Scotland. This resulted in a tighter pressure gradient on the SW and S flank - well tighter than that normally found with a pressure of 984mb!

This is true, Danielle's low level center is moving very little and will remain at sea. However, a lot of tropical moisture will get entrained into the midlevel flow, which will enhance the precip in any storm that heads to Europe.

Charley only just made it`s presence felt in the Maritimes, bringing nothing but a few sprinkles. By the time Charley entered the maritimes, it had completely lost it`s center and tracked further east than most models expected. To be honest Charley was nothing more than an area of disturbed weather, no organization at all. We certainly had more rain from the remnants of Bonnie a few days before, which tracked up the stationary front. North west New Brunswick had some quite extensive flooding, which cost a man`s life.
