Hi everyone, I decided to become a member today after lurking for over A year. Seems like I Already know everyone from reading posts every day. Some of you will remember me from GO PBI (boy did that die). Anyway I'm just happy to be part of this wonderful board.

I'm like you I have been lurking for about 2 years now. I migrated from another storm board several years ago there was to much arguing going on there. I was able to sit in on Talkin Tropics last night and found it to be very informative. I look forward to reading and commenting on things to come.

Laughing here. I also lurked for 2 years and finally registered this year. Agree on feeling like you "know" everyone from reading for so long.

Hello to all co-newbies. :D

It really is a GREAT board, very infomative. What I really love about this place is "The only dumb question is the one not asked." attitude. Very refreshing. Have learned so much from all of you.

Wainfleeter - welcome also!!! I'm glad you've decided to post. My family vacationed 2 years in a row in Canada (mid 90s). We loved it up there. Went to Barrie, Huntsville, Bracebridge (Santa's Village, our kids were 4 and 7 then), drove thru Sudbury and Sioux St. Marie (took the train to Agawa Canyon). The next year it was Hunstville again (we have our pics on an ice cream shop's wall up there!), Ottawa, and Quebec City. We've talked about going back someday.

:) Count me in as another long-time lurker. I can blame my grandfather for my interest in weather. He joined the "Weather Bureau" right before the Great Depression and worked his way up to Chief Forecaster in Kansas City and finally MIC in Albuquerque. I think it just broke his heart that out of all the grandchildren, none of us decided to follow in his footsteps. If "new math" hadn't ruined me in grade school, I would have pursued it. As it is, I am an abject failure at anything having to do with numbers, so I live vicariously through folks like you at S2K. Thanks for everything y'all do!

Welcome also JenBayles!!! All of you new members need to join us over in the Off Topic Forum too. Lots always going on over there. And if you're into politics we have a forum for that subject too. When wx is dull, ya know. :-)

Thanks Mary,

If your ever in the Niagara Penisula area, drop me a PM here. My husband and I will go touring Niagara Falls with you. We are only about 40 minutes from the falls. Wainfleet is west of Port Colborne. We live across from Lake Erie in the country. Nice and quiet. :D

Lurking??

#20 Postby Fire in the Sky » Wed Aug 18, 2004 2:31 pm

I've been a member for a while, but tend to lurk.. b/c I'm not a meteorologist and mostly come to learn. There's a great deal of knowledge and some really great people in this community. I have participated in chats with many for 5 years now. A rare poster, but I do watch learn & listen.
If you need to know something on the environmental side.. I may be able to help.. but when it comes to weather, I'm fascinated, awed and I let the people who know best be my guides. Thanks to all Y'all that keep things interesting, and welcome aboard you newbies
