Goofy pet hangups!

j - just kidding....didn't think you'd do that but the question had to be asked!!! Sigh, people have been known to kick cats before, I never have though. I'd never dream of doing that!
I let Hope curl up in my lap for 4 nights in a row after we got her. She was 9 weeks old and missing her mother/siblings. She was the first to go from her litter. I'd sit with crossed legs, make a hammock with my robe and she'll climb in. Go to sleep eventually. Consequently she wants my lap a lot! When she got older, I had to sit with my legs spread out, as if you're exercising touching your toes, so she can still climb in the middle (she's 78 lbs now!). I just hope I can continue to always sit this way. It's her comfort zone. When she hasn't seen me for a while (vacation, retreats) she wants to climb in my lap ASAP. And look up at me with a big sigh as if to say - don't ever leave again!

Rattboy also likes to attack our feet when we walk by. He hates the vacuum cleaner and smoke. If I get my cigaretes out of my purse, he leaves the room.. We don't smoke in the apartment but he knows what they are and that they make smoke.
He also picks up food with his paw and puts in in his mouth. We put little pieces of cheese or food on the corner of the table and say Ratt pick it up and he'll do it. He also likes to lick the inside of my yogurt cup when I'm done eating it.
He spends alot of time lying upside down on his back too. Sometimes I'll come home from work and he'll be stretched out upside down on the couch with his paws over his head.

BTW Miss Mary - great thread!!
Another Rudy story - he has all kinds of toys and he has two favorite stuffed toys, "Moo Cow" and "Mr. Camel". They are like pacifiers to him. He'll take one, lay on the floor, bed, couch and suck on one of their legs and slowly drift off to sleep. It's so cute.
My cat Mac likes to eat dry dog food.
He still amazes us at his ability to jump over a 6 foot high fence in our backyard. He aims for the corner, jumps and pushes off one of the panels and goes over the top. He's a big guy too - 17 lbs. He just loves to hunt, but we only let him out briefly, supervised, to nibble on grass blades.
My cat Milo likes to relieve himself in my garden beds when he is outside with me. There was time when I was diggin a hole to plant something, I turned around to get the plant, turned back and he had his little butt in the whole, peeing away! I couldn't stop laughing!!!

CATS ARE WEIRD
I have to make an observation.......it seems to me that the most weird animals in the TOPIC are CATS???????? I guess Grim has been right all along...LOL. Well my personal opinion of cats hasn't changed........,and my personal slogan still remains: "Eat Cats......they taste just like chicken"

Are you really Alf???

I think it just goes to prove that cats do have wonderful personalities and are not as "cold and calculating" as the stigma makes them out to be. Heck, Marty hated them until he met mine. Then HE brought two strays inside. Of course, they're HIS cats.

Well, let's see - our dog likes to roll around on our king sized waterbed as I said but on top of a rawhide football, that's she's never chewed up. She uses it as a massager. If the football scoots away from her, she'll stand up and plop down again on it. All 4 paws in the air. We need to get this on tape I know.
She also talks to us. Now don't pee your pants or anything there Grimmy....LOL She does! It's late at night, before bedtime and she'll get under our coffee table. She'll start up - it's just a series of grunts. My husband can grunt fairly well back at her (he's the Alpha dog in this family and she knows it!), imitating her and the two of them go at it. First time she did this it went on for a full 15 minutes, I was about to pee my pants b/c I was laughing so hard. I can always tell when she's in a talking mood. The Pet Psychic on Animal Planet always comes to mind. I wonder what she'd say Hope is trying to tell us?
There, does that even it up a bit more for dogs? LOL

Here's another dog story -
Marty has taught Rudy to howl. He doesn't do it loudly, but his ears go back, face looking towards the sky and lips are pursed with a slight "Ooooo" coming out. When Rudy is in a playful mood, Marty will start "yipping". Rudy starts to bark and Marty gets louder and louder until a howl out of him. It's great for parties!

Dogs Rule!!
Oh, Miss Mary, I believe you!!! I used to have Siberian Huskies....and anyone who has ever had one will tell you they "talk" and "sing" all the time, in fact you can get them started quite easily. A couple of years ago, my daughter and I decided we were going to see if our 140lb German Shepard could be enticed to sing. We made the mistake of trying this trick while we were driving down the highway in the car, and boy did he sing....except it wasn't a very melodious howling kind of singing......it sounded more like a moose in heat or something..lol. We got to laughing so hard I thought I was going to drive off the road!! The more we laughed the more "Zorro" sang.... he thought he was quite the star!! I love my German Shepards, and would trade a ton of cats for one good Shepard..lol. Maybe that should be a survey... are you a "dog" person or a "cat" person....

I'm both! Until Hope, I was such a cat person. Had dogs growing up but cats always stole my heart. Then I got a Golden Retriever and the rest is just history....I'd love to say it's equal, 50/50, but I'm probably leaning a bit more towards dogs at this point. But I still love cats!
How about that answer - complicated!

My Pomeranian Maxie will do the same thing with the toy. Hers is called Baby. She will lay there and suck on it and falls asleep still holding it in her mouth. Oh and don't mess with her "hedge" toy. lol.
My deceased Pomeranian "Roxie" would run and hide if you mentioned the word "doctor" When I would try to sneak out of the house to go pick up the kids from school, there she would be waiting to go, even though she had been asleep all day. lol.
My rabbit "Bud" is like a dog and a cat!! When I am holding him he will not let anyone near me. He also uses the cat litter box. He plays with the cats like he is one.
My Cocketiel "Gatlin" loves to take a bath. Matter of fact, she demands it.

Lindaloohoo..... my daughter had a rabbit that was like yours.... more like a dog!!! It would follow you all around the house, even into the bathroom. And if you didn't reach down to pet it while you were ...well doing what one does in the bathroom... it would jump up into your lap. Actually it would jump from the floor to your lap anywhere, if you ignored it!!!

I just thought of a cute game my horse, Blaze, plays... Whenever I free longe her in the round pen, at some point I stop her, I lay the whip down in the center of the ring, then I walk out to the edge. (For non-horse people, longing is a way of exercising a horse, you are in a circular ring and get the horse to walk, trot and canter around you..) Anyway, like I said, I'll lay the whip down and walk to the edge. Blaze walks to the center of the ring, picks the end of the whip up, points it at me, and SHE proceeds to longe ME! I'll run around the circle around her. It is so cute... She has even succeeded to crack the whip once!
Just a fun game we play.

That is so funny, Oklahoma!! As one of the "horsey" people in here, I spend a lot of time in the round pen too. It is important to give your horse the chance to "play" in the round pen because working in circles can bore them. I used to let my horse, Spirit, play chase with me in the round pen, but then he took it one step further and started chasing anybody (people and horses) all the time! As a horses owner, you know that is really a dangerous thing, even if the horse is just fooling around!
I thought that cats were the weirdos in here, but I guess our horses are catching up!!

Ah, that look non-pet owners give you as if to say - are you just nuts? LOL
Remember I had to pet a yellow fire hydrant for my dog to walk past it as a puppy. And talk to it too, saying - it's okay, this is just a fire hydrant, it won't hurt you....she's like this with large garbage cans too! If it's garbage collection day and cans are left on the sidewalk, we have to go around them, making a wide circle. Because you know garbage cans have been known to attack at any moment!!
Once I was walking her around my daughter's former Elem school, which is next to our street. A good place to walk the dog if it's wet out - all pavement. But as you make one turn, the building juts back out of the way and you can't see well back there. A janitor moved a large green garbage can and my dog jumped as if a firecracker had just gone off. All I saw was the can's shadow and I thought for certain it was a person! My heart stopped for a second. When I saw it was a silly garbage can I just looked at my dog and shouted out - you silly dog!!!! She scared me to death that day! And it was a weekend too, the school was deserted. I was very glad to see it was ~just~ a garbage can.

HA!! Don't I wish! The first time we got together, my daughter and I stayed at her home in NC, and we didn't see any of the cats at first. However, when we woke up the next morning, in her guest room, we were COVERED in giant hairy creatures staring us right in the face!! I think there were 5-6 big Persian cats, in the bed with us, waiting for us to get up, and get OUT of their space...lol. Needless to say, I was appalled!!! Well, to make a long story short, my daughter fell in love with one of Fur's kittens, and "Jazz" came home with us to Florida!! Grim's opinion still hasn't changed....I HATE cats.
...except for Jazz and Britney (daughter's other cat)

Miss Mary, you are going to give me nightmares, imagining all of you sending me cats, and waking up with them all in the bed with me.
