Eric - thanks! We did have a great time. The cold front you mentioned dipped down south enough for the Kentucky Lake region to have cool wx too. Which is unheard of for mid-August. A few years ago it was quite humid and temps near 100 for our reunion. This year everyone was reaching for sweatshirts late in the day and definitely by evening. We all thought it was a pleasant change. Each year my husband's family rent two ski boats for about 20 of the relatives. All the cousins try skiing. My girls have tried for YEARS to ski. Last year Nina got up but couldn't stay up. This year we took the early shift - 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Water was quite calm then but cold, remember the cool temps. She did NOT want to get in that water and was shivering putting on the ski's. She got right up and stayed up for at least 10 minutes. We were all absolutely thrilled and reaching for camera's all at the same time. None of us thought she'd do that right off the bat. I said - see it was worth getting out here when it's quiet, calm, no ripples, who cares if the water wasn't warm? LOL Then Laura got right up too! Stayed up for a while. Both girls actually skiied their turns and we had time leftover, that never happens either! All in all, the weekend was nice, cool wx, nice to see family and our girls can now say they know how to water ski. Check another item off that - I'd like to try - list. I should add our girls love to tease me - how about hang gliding mom next? Or bungee jumping? Oh sure.....NOT! Not unless they're over 18 and not covered on our insurance. And I'm not around when they do it...he he.

Good to be back but I'm having trouble really getting back into the computer mode thing again. I think it will take a few days.

Just returned today from vacation... First week was a blast... sun was out almost everyday... just a little burnt (yeah right, fried like a lobster, but nice and dark now... with the occasional peeling skin). :D Second week was cold and rainy. :grr: Upper Minnesota was hit hard with the arctic cold front. Evaporational Fog was prevalent, some days could not see 1/4 mile in front of the resort. Anyways, had to come home early for a wedding and could not get off of work on Friday (tomorrow).

If anyone would like to be noisy... here is the link for the resort that we stay at. http://www.birchvilla.com You can see some of the cabins... they pretty much are relatively close to one another.

Wow, I just realized no one has posted on this thread in a week! A WEEK!!! What's up with that? Is this porch deserted? Where is everyone? Stirring up trouble on other forums, topics, I ask? LOL he he and all that.....it's good. Goooood, ya hear! That's my best Jim Carrey impression.

And no we didn't just watch an old JC movie tonight!!! We did rent Miracle though - a wonderful movie. I heard it was and we meant to see before now. So glad we rented it. I highly recommend Miracle. Kurt Russell alone is superb. Never saw that one coming! The boy who wore tennis shoes or stole tennis shoes? Or however that Disney title went....anyone younger than say 35 is saying huh, what's she talking about?

Well, I just thought it was a crying shame there hadn't been a post here since Friday the 13th! Hey that's it - Charley put a curse on this thread!!!

Have a good weekend everyone.

Mary, :)

Speaking of Kurt Russell...I enjoyed his movies like Overboard w/ Goldie Hawn and Captain Ron w/ Martin Short!

Speaking of Jim Carrey...I'm a big Carrey fan, too...last night on cable his movie Ace Ventura: Pet Detective was on! :)

There's a small creek behind the row of townhouses where I live and not last night but the previous two nights before...a small toad (frog)...well, anyway same amphibian family LOL...this little guy was clinging onto my outside bedroom window and it's cool how it's feet are like suction grips...by AM it's gone!

Have a Sensational Saturday, S2KBuddies! :D (((((HUGS)))))

Eric - the toad story sounds so cute! I think he was trying to tell you - hey stop and smell the roses from time to time! We had a stray cat literally plop into my lap 5 years ago. No one could find his owners and we wanted to keep him but Nina was highly allergic. We had to take him to the shelter eventually and he was adopted within 24 hours - happy ending there. But he taught us to slow down that summer. He's sit on my old wooden rocker on the front porch. As if to say - come outside and pet me! How we wished we could have kept that cat....we even named him Shadow. He was all black and so sweet.

I didn't used to be a Jim Carrey fan, at all, until I watched The Truman Show. That was my turning point. Now I'm a fan of his but years ago it was difficult to get thru his umpteen facial expressions without wincing!

Won't be long til the Pot Belly Stove gets stoked up again for the winter, so I thought I'd stop by and say hello.

Been a busy busy time for us here...both at work and at home. We're trying to remodel the pool and re-landscape the yard...and so time after work is spent raking or cleaning up or preparing for the next subcontractor to move in and do their thing.

Phoenix is already busy gearing up for the influx of winter visitors (snowbirds) that starts in October. We're expecting some of our own friends to visit..in October, January, and March.

Oldest son Jason is in Hong Kong on business this weekend. He was nearly arrested for playing cards with a business partner in a restauarant while waiting for food (they couldn't understand a thing on the TV!). He discovered it is illegal to play cards in public over there. He won't make that mistake again!

Hurricane season will surely get busy again and chatter will be widespread everywhere when it does.

Best wishes to all of you who are returning to school these days. Regardless of what you may think, those are some wonderful years you will talk about forever!!!

HOWDY DENNIS!!

I haven't been in here in ages myself (boo, hiss). I thought I'd say hello though to everyone.

I think that the PBS may be needed earlier this year as well. I have spiders making webs ALL OVER THE PLACE! I had one that made a web between my side view mirror and my driver's side door OVER NIGHT.

Well, we're back to 'normal' around my house again. Alarm goes off at 5:30, grrrrrr! Bus comes at 6:29 for Laura. Nina gets a ride this year (has that Senioritis thing going, I ~can't~ ride the bus MOM!). Dog's up with us, barking at odd shadows in the backyard (sun isn't up at this time yet!). We're bribing her with treats to get inside. Oh what fun!!! Not....where did summer go I want to know?!!! I was just starting to feel human again with decent sleep too. One self-imposed habit I'm enforcing is I must go to sleep at 10 to get up by 5:30 and be somewhat awake. Used to be I'd putz around on the computer, watch the news, etc. Not anymore! I have to be strong....

Before we know it, temps will turn cooler Dennis and we WILL need that PBS again. I have those cobwebs all over my shrubs too Stephanie. Inside too.....he he. Can't blame inside ones on changing of the seasons though....pure laziness I guess. LOL

Well, have a good day everyone!

Hi everyone,

Been busy around my place lately. My sink clogged up again Saturday night and I JUST got it fixed today around 1 PM. Ouch! I mean that literally because I burnt my left hand on the chemicals I used to (unsuccessfully) try to unclog the drain. :( It feels better now though for the most part.

Still no job here, but I do have a few places in mind that I am thinking of going to tomorrow or Friday. :) (I have to get back on a more regular sleep schedule first and not wake up at 3:30 PM! :( )

It's been mild here, temps have been seasonal - mid to upper 70s during the day and mid 60s at night with the night and morning low clouds and patchy fog.

My aunt passed away about a month ago, but I found out well after the fact. So that is part of the reason why I haven't been myself lately. :(

Other than that not much else is new here. Catch ya all around! :)

Joshua - so sorry to hear about your aunt's passing. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers for a while. That's sad.

  For all you "spider haters", I have some lovely specimens this summer that are the size of my hand!! Yep, time for the giant Florida banana spiders!! Having my horses in my front yard has been great because they walk between most of the trees and bushes and knock the webs down. My daughter and I have left the big one up by the porch light intact, and actually catch moths and small bugs, and FEED it!! We do this every summer and name the spider "Charlotte". No pot belly stove needed here, prob not for a LONG time.. but when you fire that one up in AZ, let me know, I'm interested to hear your explanation scoring so ah-hem "well" on the "Hell" thread..lol!!

Morning everyone. I just realized no one had left anything for Crouton as of late and that he might be getting hungry. Here are some donuts... and someone, if you see Crouton... let him have a couple. :P

Yes YOU Grimmy....thanks for that heads up. I get to typing so fast I left out a word there. he he

Not your intent though I'm sure....pointing out typos.....not YOU!!!

You know what though, I honestly suspect you are such a nice person Grimmy, that this is all a front. All bark, no bite, sort of thing. Oh no, did I just blow your cover?!!!

You can prove it by feeding Crouton!!!

Grimmmy - LOL

And no you can't feed him cats!!! He's someone's beloved pet dog....I honestly forget who right this moment. Terrible huh? Early Alzheimer's settin' in? I know it's not Dennis' dog(s), although he started this thread. David's/Vbhoutex's dog?
