Babcock Ranch in Danger
I can only hope that the damages from Hurricane Charley don’t cut into charlotte and Lee counties and the States budget to buy the 90,000+ acre Babcock Ranch…. I’m sure everybody knows southwest Florida’s Human population is growing fast and serving the greedy housing development industry well…. If the state drops the ball on buying the ranch, growth and development will be poised to gobble it up, already a 19,000 home development and several large apartment/townhome complexes have already been considered on about 40,000 of the ranch! This land is home to Florida panthers and black bears and is within the Everglades! If this land is lost to Human growth will all lose…. I know this off topic, but I think all residents of Florida should be aware of this….

http://www.news-press.com/special_sections/babcock/ Here some info on the Ranch and it's future. Hopefully the plan to buy it goes through. At least they have more time now, according to the article!!
